State of Health (SoH)
What is it?
State of Health (SoH) is a metric that compares a battery's current maximum capacity to its original capacity when it was brand new. If a new 100 kWh battery has degraded and can now only hold 95 kWh, its SoH is 95%.
How it works
While State of Charge (SoC) tells you how full the battery is right now, State of Health (SoH) tells you the overall condition of the battery over its lifetime. The Battery Management System calculates SoH by tracking the battery's internal resistance, voltage curves, and total energy throughput over months and years. Unlike SoC, which changes every minute you drive, SoH changes very slowly over years.
Why it matters
SoH is the single most important metric for evaluating the long-term health of an EV. It is crucial when buying or selling a used electric vehicle, as it proves how well the battery has been maintained and dictates the true remaining range of the car.
The Aximote Advantage
Aximote's deep integration with Android Automotive OS allows it to access diagnostic data that third-party smartphone apps simply cannot reach. By continuously monitoring your vehicle's energy consumption and charging data over time, Aximote provides a reliable, data-driven overview of your vehicle's performance, helping you keep an eye on the long-term health and efficiency of your EV.
