Android Automotive OS (AAOS)
What is it?
Android Automotive OS (AAOS) is a full-stack, open-source operating system developed by Google that runs directly on the vehicle's hardware. It is the car's native infotainment system, not to be confused with Android Auto, which merely mirrors a smartphone screen.
How it works
Because AAOS is deeply integrated into the vehicle, it controls core functions like the air conditioning, seat heaters, and audio system. More importantly, it has direct access to the vehicle's internal network (CAN bus), allowing native apps to read real-time data such as battery level, speed, and GPS location without needing a connected smartphone.
Why it matters
AAOS represents a massive shift in the automotive industry. It allows drivers to download apps directly to their car via the Google Play Store, just like on a smartphone. This creates a seamless, integrated experience where apps can interact with the car's hardware in ways that were previously impossible.
The Aximote Advantage
Aximote is built exclusively for Android Automotive OS. This is our superpower. While other driving apps are stuck on your smartphone, guessing your speed via a shaky GPS signal, Aximote lives inside your car's brain. It reads the exact, native telemetry data, ensuring 100% accuracy for your logbook, charging costs, and driving analysis.
